WRAPPS is an Association that sprang from the Cleveland Storytelling Guild which was started in the early 1980's.

Our mission (using the oral tradition) is to Promote the Preservation & Perpetuation of Storytelling.

How can Storytelling help?

• Recognition of figurative language
• Fosters and enhances listening skills
• Motivates reading at all levels
• Increases reading comprehension through language and plot structure
• Increases auditory memory
• Stirs and helps with the development of imagination
• Influences word choice
• Generates ideas to be used in writing
• Transmits information, knowledge, and History in a way people will remember (information embedded in a story greatly increases a student's retention)
• Storytelling makes people realize there is a common thread of humanity
• Provokes thought and opens the door to critical thinking
• Helps pass on the culture of people
• The passing on of behavioral philosophies
